Born in Watervliet, New York, the heart of Shaker
Country, Victoria Hayes was raised
in the legacy of the simple form, line and design of that famous
style. It is without a doubt that this background became a major
influence in her future career as an artist.
Surrounded by the architecture, furniture and design of the
Shakers, coupled with her own strongly inquiring imagination,
allowed her to explore artistically the composition of line,
color and form. It was those explorations and her own love of
art that prompted a classical training, both in America and
abroad., leading to a series of distinguished exhibitions and
commissioned public works. |

Creative Influences: The belief in the concept of artistic beauty,
skill, reflection, industry, practice and study bring the artists
concept into consciousness with out being thwarted by the stubbornness
of materials. El Greco and Picasso for breaking the rules, Martin
Puryear, a master of his craft and Elizabeth Frink for her life
long dedication.
Pursuits and Interest: Studying, reading and experimentation
with all materials and processes, expanding my three dimensional
vision, creating large scale art. Finding the balance between
